My name is Mohamed Abdulla Al Marzouqi. I am 20 years old. I was born in Abu Dhabi and I live in Al Bahia. In addition, I am the only son in my family, so I have to bear most of the responsibilities. I graduated from high school with 90% and I am currently studying Civil Engineering at Higher College of Technology. Furthermore, my hobbies are playing football, bowling, volleyball, reading and designing. I have been to Saudi Arabia only twice and I hope to visit more countries in the future. Hopefully I will graduate this year with a high diploma and I plan to complete my higher studies to get a bachelor degree. However, I have to work for Abu Dhabi Municipality after graduation because I am sponsored by them. Finally, I hope to get married in the future and build my own family.

•• What is Global Warming ?

Global warming is defined as the increase in the average temperature of the earth. The temperature had unnatural increasing in the last century and this problem still continues. Many changes have happened in the climate and many places have been affected by it. The noticeable increase in the global average temperature is mainly with regard to an observed increase in atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. Moreover, economic growth is another major reason for air pollution. Therefore, the increase in the global temperature will melt the ice mountains and raise the sea level and cause many changes in the world climate. As we can see, global warming can cause many problems, so scientists and the government provide many effective solutions to avoid this serious problem. They want to control this problem by reducing the rate of pollution to a normal level. However, this goal can be achieved only with the participation of all individuals and being part of the responsibility.

๑.. Global Warming Causes ..

Global warming causes can be divided into two main terms, human causes and natural causes. Most causes are due to human activities because they don’t care about the environment. Moreover, many people cut the trees and affect the plant in a negative way. Furthermore, they increase the pollution by the smoke and gases from factories and vehicles. On the other hand there are many natural causes for global warming. One of the most common reasons is the result of variations in solar activity. It affects the earth’s surface and increases its temperature. In addition, the atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations and volcanic eruptions can also affect the earth and cause many effects. Finally, the high level of greenhouse gases because of human activity is classified by scientists as a major influence.




๑.. Greenhouse gases ..

Scientists say that the main cause of global warming is the increase in pollution from human and natural activities. This pollution affects the atmosphere which works like greenhouse. A greenhouse works as any closed area. It prevents the heat’s movement from inside to outside. Furthermore, there are several gases which cause global warming such as carbon dioxide, water vapor, methane, ozone, nitrogen oxides and chlorofluorocarbons. Most of these gases are coming from human activities such as cars and factories which give off a greenhouse gas which called CO2. The others are from natural activities which are much less effect such as volcano and burning forests. Because gases are the major reason for global warming, people should care about it and respond by applying the scientists’ advice in their daily life, to reduce the negative effects of these gases.

๑.. Global Warming Effects ..

Global warming has many effects on the earth and these effects are ranging from big disasters to few effects. For example, it increases the risk of flooding from high sea levels and heavy rain. Furthermore, the glaciers in the north of the earth are melting and this is also a big disaster. It could kill many humans and flood all coastal cities. Statistics show that many frozen areas in the north are melting daily and raising the level of the sea. In addition, the natural disasters in the USA in the last century such as Katrina were stronger and more dangerous due to the change in the climate. Finally, it is obvious that all of these effects are dangerous to the earth and alarming us to be serious with this problem.




๑.. Ice Melting ..



Scientists proved that the sea level has risen by about 15-20 cm over the last century due to melting ice in the north, and also from ice floating on the Arctic Ocean. All these effects are increasing the sea level and may sink some parts of the coastal lands. This means a lot of humans will lose the source of food and shelter. In addition, for years the icebergs in the North Pole and the South Pole are melting and the scientists’ estimate that at the end of this century the North and South Pole will be without any ice and snow during summer. All in all, from all these results above, ice melting will be danger to human life and may delete several coastal cities and make it underwater.

๑.. UAE and Global Warming ..

The Emirates News Agency studies proved that the major result of global warming in the UAE is the rise of sea levels. In addition, the last study in 2006 said that the sea level in the UAE increased by 2.89%, which is very high compared to the last years.


Furthermore, there are other studies which estimate the UAE climate in the future will dramatically change and increasing in the temperature due to the global warming. This will change our lifestyle and oblige us to abandon many devices which depend on oil that causing environmental pollution. Currently observed that every local family has at least three cars and this is what makes the situation more serious.

๑.. Individual Action in UAE ..

The UAE government follows many ways to reduce the CO2 which is the major problem of global warming. They plant many areas with trees to reduce CO2 levels. Moreover, they plan to decrease the number of cars and change it by the public transport. For example, they provide modern devices such as the Dubai metro. Furthermore, they plan to reduce the oil energy uses and change it for solar energy. For example, they import new machines which work with solar energy and use them in some factories. The UAE individuals should participate the government in saving the environment and increase the awareness among UAE citizens. They should grow plans in their own houses, decrease using cars and teach their children how to protect the environment.

In summary, I have learnt a lot from this project and realized the danger of global warming on the planet. First, I knew that the main reason of environmental pollution and high temperature is the human activities. The factories smokes and gases resulting from cars are clear examples for human activity. After that I have learnt some solutions to reduce the global warming such as agriculture, using the public transport, provide new energy such as solar energy and windmill ... etc. Personally, I will plant my house to reduce the pollution and I will warn the people from the danger of global warming.
